About Us

We are a large horticultural operation run by a small family. Blue River Nursery was started in 1987 by plant enthusiast Steve Locker, and has grown to its current scope through the vision, efforts, and creativity of his son, Shawn Locker. Shawn’s wife, Kelly, provides office support and occasional customer service; their son, Georg, is often seen at the nursery, learning the trade and working alongside the staff. Georg’s Granddad is John Lorenz, Kelly’s father, and he assists Shawn with all the day-to-day business.
